Operation Safe Stop
April 30, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Operation Safe Stop is a program that seeks to promote school bus safety through a combination of education and enforcement efforts. The goal is to proactively educate motorists about the dangers of passing stopped school buses. It is a cooperative project supported by Governors Traffic Safety Committee, NYAPT, the New York State Education Department (NYSED), the New York State School Bus Contractors Association, the student transportation industry, and state, county, city and local law enforcement agencies.
This year, Operation Safe Stop Education and Enforcement Day will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2020.
The Ulster County Safety Office/Traffic Safety Board hosts an event which recognizes Operation Safe Stop and where the Ulster County Executive’s Office presents the Ulster County School Bus Driver of the Year and Charles Schaller Awards.
